Bretz, Spridgeon take Wapak Invite titles

WAPAKONETA – Van Wert's Isaiah Bretz captured the 140-pound weight class championship at the Wapakoneta Invitational on Saturday, helping his Cougars to a third-place finish in the 14-team tournament. Van Wert senior Trevor Spridgeon also won his class, pinning Napoleon's Wesley Jeffries-Babcock to capture the 184-pound title.

Napoleon won the team event with 316 points while the host Redskins were second.

Bretz pinned Sammy Elliston of Conner 11 seconds into the third round of the championship match to secure the title. Spridgeon's pin came at 4:40 of the match.

Another Cougar, Lloyd Eutsler, was runner-up. He suffered a a late-second round pin at the hands of Wapak's Zac Miller in the 197-pound title match. 

Josh Dorsch placed third in the 122-pound class. Ryan Pratt was fourth at 154 pounds. Dale Hammons was fifth at 172 pounds while sixth-place finishers for Van Wert included Killian Sudduth at 108 pounds, Spencer Blue at 172 pounds and Ben Lange at 128 pounds.
