VW places 2 in girls Districts

MINSTER – The Van Wert girls bowled well but came up 36 pins short of moving on to district competition.

The Cougars put up their season-high game in the second traditional game with a 839 and was sitting third in the field of 10 at the girls bowling sectionals at Community Lanes in Minster. In the third game, the lanes started to transition and the girls fell to fourth position with New Bremen and Bath less than 19 pins behind. The baker games started well and ended well, but the middle four games got the best of the ladies from Van Wert.

Two Cougar girls qualified for the district competition on the Thursday at Interstate Lanes in Rossford.

Freshman Lorrie Decker led the field of 61 bowlers in Individual score with a 617 series and senior Cloey Spry was the 10th best score on the day with a 482 series. Allison Hauter bowled two solid games of 153 and 163, placing 23rd. Players contributing to overall score and making some quality shots were Allie Morrow, Katie Hauter, Hanna Say and seniors Kaylee McPhail and Ashley Matthews
